Opt for Ganesha idol made with clay or natural substance. Avoid idols painted with oil paints or harsh chemicals. Use biodegradable items like paper, fruits or flower for decoration, avoid plastic. Do not throw the flowers and other decoration items in the water body while immersing the idol, try to compost them. Every year water bodies such as oceans, seas, lakes get polluted because of the use of chemical paints, POP on the idols. Heavy metals and toxic paints increase the acidic content of the water which impacts marine life.
